About
Emma Willis is a concept-driven, material-led designer-maker working primarily with ceramics. Based on the North Shropshire/Welsh border, creating abstract sculptural forms and evocative objects that explore memory, remembrance, and narrative. Working predominantly with hand-built porcelain and stoneware, her practice is rooted in texture, material honesty, and the emotional resonance of form.
Working with a restrained, often monochrome palette, she is drawn to the rawness of naked clay — surfaces that hold traces of process, allowing the material itself to communicate fragility, permanence, and human touch.
Alongside ceramics, she occasionally incorporates wood, glass, and metal to extend the conversation between fragility and permanence.
